IT STARTED WITH A DREAM

In 2007, the Lord impressed upon us the words of Isaiah the prophet.

“Is this not the fast the I have chosen: To loose the bands of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh?”  (Isaiah 58:6-7 NKJV)

As we read these words, we knew that one of the key ministries of ACTS church would be to have a Storehouse to feed our people and those who were in need in our community.

SMALL BEGINNINGS

Bill and Madeline Brannon took this vision and ran with it, starting the ministry out of a classroom in the church. In its earliest days, church members donated food for the Brannons to distribute. As the pantry began to grow, Acts formed a partnership to purchase food/toiletries from Caritas of Waco.

OVER TIME

It was evident from the earliest days that the Storehouse would be a place where not only physical needs would be met, but spiritual needs as well. After moving into its current facility, the Acts Storehouse began operating out of a warehouse with Terri Ready as Director. As we began to share food with the community, doors opened to pray with many of the recipients, resulting in numerous salvations, healings, and testimonies of answered prayers. Many who started coming to receive food came back to volunteer and serve others.

TODAY

The Acts Storehouse is the longest-standing ministry of Acts Church. It is run exclusively by volunteers who are passionate about serving the community. On the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, volunteers serve a variety of food items which often include: produce, meat, dairy items, bread, and non-perishables while offering prayer and encouragement. The ministry has continued to flourish because of God’s provision and people who are faithful to serve.

TO VOLUNTEER

Volunteers are needed between 8 am and 12:30 pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month plus other times throughout the week to stock and unload trucks. If you’d like more information on how you can serve, please fill out the form below and a Storehouse representative will contact you.
